It has been a lamenting moment for Oyo NSCDC as their staffs have been serving their nation with a larger percentage of them not receiving their allowances for the election exercise.
Explaining the reason why this para military arm will boycott the saturday’s elections, the group of anonymous uniform men described the payment of their election allowances as a fraud because it has gotten to a stage where belonging to the factions of the top officials in the organisation is the only way you will be due to collect your allowances.
They further said as we speak, a larger percentage of the staffs who participated in the Ekiti Gubernatorial elections have not received their allowances while some who know who is who have collected their own. Infact, they told us to forget about Ekiti election’s allowances that the federal government only released a token for a few of the staffs. The question that we are asking now is who is owing us? The INEC? The Federal Government? or the Oyo NSCDC?
As we all know the situation of the country, a token of 6,000 naira cash was approved to be given to the staffs for transportation as a result of naira scarcity, they only gave few the funds and siphoned the rest as said by the anonymous Civil Defence officials.
Infact, about 60% of the staffs who took part in the presidential election exercise have not been paid with the stress of working overnight, work hazards and attacks of electoral violence.
What is now the essence of working if some top officials will be eating what belongs to the staffs that are facing the heat of the work on the field? Even the NSCDC officials that are working at the INEC office have not been paid as we speak. Go to Ogun state command of the same corps, they are facing the same challenges, we can’t continue to be risking our lifes day in, day out and nothing will be given to show for it.
We therefore call on the President, federal republic of Nigeria, the minister of interior, the chairman of INEC to call Oyo state NSCDC to order by instructing them to release our allowances if they want us to work in the forth coming elections on Saturday, the anonymous staffs said.
The same thing happened in Kwara NSCDC Command
