The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Babatunde Adeyeye Enitan Akande Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II has received the highest royal global award from SDG Youth International which has its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea.This award attracted a million dollar solar energy to Ojaja University Eyenkorin.
Speaking at the event on Saturday, 14th October, 2023, Dr. Raymond Ekpe, who led the team from South Korea to the Palace of the Arole Oduduwa, said his father, the Ooni, has given so much to Nigeria, Africa, and even the world at large and this has placed him in the right position for this award. “He added.”
According to Dr. Ekpe, having discovered that light is a major problem in Africa, the organization through BME Korea, one of the largest energy firms in South Korea, has embarked on a project of lightening up Universities in Africa starting from Kenya and Uganda which they visited recently and because of the achievements of the Ooni particularly in the area of Youth emancipation, Osun state University in Nigeria will be a beneficiary of the project. “He concluded.
The SDG Youth country representative of Nigeria and Africa, Mr Uzor Ifeane, explained how he swung into action through the Ministry of Youths and Foreign Affairs to ensure that based on the antecedents of His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Nigeria must be included in the project. 12 Universities in Africa will be benefitting from the solar project and, based on the records of His Majesty Osun State University, will

The Executive Director of SDG Youth International, Mr Kim Ju Yong, appreciated Ooni for hosting them. He said the award is the first of its kind to be presented to an individual by the SDG Youth International and this is because of the Ooni’s immense contribution towards achieving the United Nations sustainable Development Goals (SDG) particularly in his efforts to eradicate poverty and promote gender equity.
Mr Kim Ju Yong who said he is happy to be back home because he is presently in the source where everybody migrated to other various parts of the Earth furthered his Speech by saying the project that his organization will be carrying out in Africa worth multi millions of dollars and because Ooni is the only king who has globally invested so much in ensuring good and affordable education at the tertiary level, Ojaja University will be included in the project. “He concluded.
