
The executive officer of channels television station has received a sanction letter on behalf of the TV station from Nigeria Broadcasting Cooperation, NBC titled ‘Broadcast of inciting interview.
This letter was served as a result of violating interview laws during the interview session of the vice presidential candidate of Labour Party, Datti Baba Ahmed.
A fine of 5 million naira was placed on channels television station for breaking the communication guidelines.
The letter reads in part ‘ The NBC monitored the broadcast of a live interview of the running mate of the Labour Party, , Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, by the anchor of politics today, Seun Okinbaloye, on Wednesday, 2022. Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed said it will be unconstitutional to swear in an elected president on May 29, 2023, the letter said.
Explaining the reason why the 5 million naira fine was slammed on channels television station, Balarabe Ilelah said, the interview was capable of inciting public disorder due to the breakage of some sections of the code of conducts of communications in Nigeria.
According to the broadcasting spirits and letters that were violated, broadcasters shall ensure that no program contained anything which amounted to subversion of consituted authority
Consequently, channels television is hereby sanctioned 5 million naira for this infraction. Ilelah said.
