Hon. Lamide Awosunle, CEO of Global Concept, has officially launched the Ife Youths Start-Up Competition (IYSC) themed “If I Had a Million Naira,” aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to address both local and global challenges.
The competition was unveiled at a press conference held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the House of Oduduwa in Ile-Ife. Speaking at the event, Awosunle, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Ife, described the initiative as a long-held dream to create a platform where young Nigerians can propose solutions to critical issues such as job creation, local content development, social inclusion, and technological advancement.
“This is more than just a competition; it’s a call to action for young innovators to step up and contribute to Nigeria’s future,” Awosunle emphasized.
The competition is open to all young residents of Ife land, regardless of their state of origin, and aims to identify visionary individuals who can help drive socio-economic progress. Registration for the IYSC is now open on the competition’s website, www.mindspowerglobalconcept.com.ng, and will remain open until Friday, December 13, 2024.
Applicants are required to submit a business plan or proposal that outlines their ideas for tackling key societal challenges. Once the proposals are submitted, a dedicated team will review them carefully, and one finalist will be selected as the winner. The winner will not only receive funding to bring their business idea to life but also gain access to mentorship that will help them transform their vision into reality.
Awosunle took the opportunity to thank Otunba Moses Olafare, Director of Media & Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, as well as the competition’s partners, team members, and local authorities for their invaluable support in making the IYSC possible.
