“I AM GOING INTO THE FILM WORLD”-OONI
Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula & the spiritual head of Yoruba race, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife has disclosed his readiness to go into the film world in the bid to promote Yoruba cultural Heritage.
The Ooni of Ife made it known on Saturday, 21st of September, 2024 while hosting the prolific Yoruba actor, Femi Adebayo who produced the blockbuster Yoruba film, Jagunjagun at his palace in Ile-Ife.
Describing Yoruba films as creative endeavours which are sacred and spiritual, Ooni said Yoruba actors ought to be cruising private jets because films emanate from history, critical reasoning and realities that can only be similar but not the exact thing.
” Immediately I mounted the throne of my forbearers, I went spiritual to pray for a more sophisticated and standard Yoruba films that would project our undiluted history and that’s why I am happy with what I am seeing today.
“We are the oldest race, we have the richest contents as a tribe, far better than the Foreigners that deals with fictions and artificials’ because our ancestors have lived our ways of life for us, it is now left to us to turn it into wealth. For instance, Yoruba first made use of GSM and other technologies as you can see it in the character of Abija and Ajan.
“Atimes, when I am with the Deities, they lament about the way our history is being presented wrongfully to the whole world particularly when piracy and extortions from Cinemas are making our Yoruba actors and actresses to run into not gaining from their sweat as expected.
“This is why I have decided to go into the film world by building the largest all encompassing Cinemas across the Yoruba speaking states which will premier our Yoruba films at prices that would be favourable to our artists and viewers. My aim is to build five big cinemas at Lagos State before going into a specialized and standard Film Village that would attract foreigners to produce their films.
“All these will be working with my creative and innovative Ojaja University where students can do their practicals and field work.
“To tackle the issue of running to Netflix, I have also decided to build community film Centres that will help rural areas which do not access to network services to also see movies at a reduced cost rate with more viewers”. Ooni said.
His Majesty also used the opportunity to pray for Artists particularly those trying their possible best to build and also sustain film village in Yoruba land.

In his own address, Mr Femi Adebayo appreciated Arole Oodua for his unflinching support towards the entertainment industry.
Mr Femi Adebayo disclosed that if artists get better percentage from Cinemas, they will not only gain more but will also do more.
“The purpose of my courtesy visit is inform the Arole Oodua that I want to produce Moremi. I can only get the undiluted story of Moremi from the throne of Oduduwa. Kabiesi sir, I need the help of the throne to actualize this dream” Femi Adebayo said.
Reacting to this, Ooni said Moremi Ajasoro symbolized Freedom.
“Moremi gave birth to America, the land of freedom but it is a talk for another day. Ooni said.
